Neal Slavin
Neal Slavin began his career as a traveling postcard photographer in the Southern United States in the mid-sixties. While traveling he encountered the Civil Rights movement and spent as much time shooting pictures of people in Mississippi, Louisiana and Tennessee as he did shooting for the Postcard company that employed him. From there he received a Fulbright Fellowship to Portugal and lived and worked under the reign of the ruthless Fascist dictator Antonio Oliveira Salazar. Following encounters include the books Portugal, When Two or More are Gathered Together and Britons. Slavin is a photographer and filmmaker and is working on 2 new photographic projects as well as a new film shot both in New York and Portugal entitled Saudade, A Love Letter to Portugal.
