Brian Taylor
Brian was born in the Southwest near Tucson, Arizona in 1954. This is the land of Carlos Castaneda, forever influencing Brian with the magic of the Sonora Desert and fueling his interest in voodoo, alternative photo processes. After 40 years of teaching photography as a university professor and chairing a department of art and art history, Brian hung up his professor’s cap and served as the Director of the Center for Photographic Art in Carmel, California before returning to his own studio practice. Brian has taught photography workshops coast to coast, yet the story he recounts here occurred while still a teenager, attending his first workshop taught by Oliver Gagliani in a former 19th century hospital in Virginia City, Nevada.
